I listen to pop punk like bowling for soup. They are so fun and fast. I also like that I love it song by icona pop - you want me down on earth but I am up in space is my favorite line. I'd add video links but I'm at the opposite end and that's just too much for me lol

Call me old-fashioned, but I like '80s hair bands and heavy metal like Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Poison etc. when I'm hypo/manic. I also like salsa dance music a lot!

Oh yes, good stuff guys, keep it coming!

I am by no means suggesting that my musical taste is better. I'm 36 years old, but I just recently discovered modern dubstep electronic music, and I swear it sounds like it was composed by maniacs, for the purpose of being happily hypomanic!

Here is one, it is hilarious! 70s boogie dancing video combined with modern dubstep rythym!

The video makes me laugh and feel high!

Yoshima Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips is perfect manic music.

or

Dark Star by the Grateful Dead from 1973 at the Renaisance Fair Grounds (which can be found on archive.com) is a also great manic music...likely because they were totally blasted on LSD at the time...the song 31 minutes long and is perfect.

Yay, good stuff! I'm on to bad brains, black flag and social distortion currently. Fun, classic and amazingly energetic. The best!

The Cure -- Give Me It

A live version from back in the day:

There's pixelation (hey, it's old footage!), but with all the flashing and spinning, you'll hardly notice.

I've been known to blast this song in the car (from the cd The Top), hitting repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat…. Lol.

(Or...The album version, for those who prefer something a little less intense --it does have its own merits --with no visual chaos: (then click on #4 or the slide bar to 14:17, think it is). It doesn't fit with the rest of the album, but who cares? )

Thanks for this!

Of Montreal - all experimental sounding with perfect lyrics, such as "at least i author my own disaster." Also the Cure and the Smiths and Joy Division. So many others!

Nickelback? :gag: I didn't think I'd see them in this thread!
...but I can understand the manic part, it does have reckless lyrics and wild energy.

YES, yes and OH YES! Huge JD fan here. They've got an especially powerful resonance at the other end of the spectrum too, must be said. It boggles my mind, such incredible lyrics at such an age as he was. Profound connection. No one has ever expressed my mind so well. Probably not even me(!)

(I thought of another manic rec, but cannot bear the thought of putting within same post as these guys. Just wouldn't be right. Per IZ's Rules of Reverence.)
