For some reason I fall into a depression every summer. It happens every year.

I woke up today and felt it set in. Its weird.

Does anyone else get depressed in the summer?

I do but not due to Bipolar Disorder - it's hayfever that really makes me depressed. It devoids me of energy, makes me irritable, I'm constantly blowing my nose and my eyelids begin to dry out and tear from the scratching. Believe it or not, that's actually with Cetirizine, eye drops and nasal spray.

When Bipolar affected me more however, it seemed to be around early June that depression kicked in. This is thinking back (only one or two years ago, but those times are very foggy in my mind) but I believe most of my psychiatric inpatient stays were during the summer months.

It's odd, really. You'd think the winter months would be the times you'd get more depressed but I've found it can be quite the opposite, from reading on forums and analysing my personal medical history. I understand that with Seasonal Affective Disorder it's most commonly the colder, wetter months but I guess it doesn't have to necessarily apply to other mood disorders.
