Is extreme fatigue (like, not being able to properly function fatigue) a "normal" side effect of some meds? Or is this probably a bigger sign that my meds are somehow off? I'm scared that I'm going to have to live with this side effect regardless of which meds I take. Right now it's making me feel really unmotivated and it's hard to work. Waiting for my doctor to get back to me about what's going on and if/how I can remedy this.

Hello, sdguy123. Please call your psychiatrist and discuss what you have told us.

I agree with The Skeezyks that it depends on a lot of factors whether it's your meds or your illness. I'd recommend finding out all you can about the meds that you're on. I think Med Ed is one of the most important things you can do to help manage your illness. Start by asking your pdoc, but there is also a lot of information on the web. You can type in the name of your med in Google and get lots of responses.
There are also other physical problems that lead to excessive sleepiness. I'd hope that besides checking your testosterone, your doctor has checked your thyroid levels, for one thing. It's really important to eliminate all physical problems before going to a mental illness dx. __________________ bipolar II meds: Lamictal Zoloft |

As the others have said it can be a side effect of meds. I myself have been there and I'm doing much better on an alternative med. I feel however it's very important to note that if you aren't drinking at least 2 litres of water a day you will also suffer from symptoms of fatigue and not wanting to do anything. Its something i battle with a lot and if i force myself to drink i almost instantly feel that veil lifting.

Thanks for your replies, all. I've alerted my doctor and am waiting to hear back from him. I just moved to a new area and am in the process of finding a new primary doc and psychiatrist.
