Hey Everybody,

I don't suffer from Bipolar 1 or 2, but more mood disorder NOS with obsessive thoughts and psychotic features. But i do need to take a number of mood stabilizers and antipsychotics to prevent me from going through the roof.

I've been suffering from alot of agitation and irritability since August of last year. I've had to get my antidepressants adjusted a number of times prior to going inpatient in February. I'm back in partial hospitalization where i've gone back on an SSRI (Prozac instead of Effexor) and my pdoc increased my Neurontin to 900 mg t.i.d. My concern is that i feel somewhat inebriated from the increase in Neurontin, which i told my doctor this morning.

Should i ask to go off Neurontin and onto Trileptal? Dealing with this agitiation and irritability is a struggle and my therapist doesn't seem to know how to help. In partial i get to see a pdoc each day for 5-10 minutes, and hopefully i won't have to go back inpatient. I'll give the increase in Neurontin a couple more days until i see my pdoc on Monday.

What have other people done to treat the agitation/anger/irritability?

you are too deep in the every other direction ....

you have arrived at pain!...

by assuming that this pain is otherwise yourself!...

the next mistake is to attempt to blame yourself...

we sicko's keep searching for more ways to blame ourselves

Actually that is a low dose of neurontin. I say that because they are usually given at 300mg pills. I am on 600mg 3x.a.day and it does wonders for me. The reason why I'm also on a higher dose is because it treats both my anxiety and for pain mgmt. It is used for both conditions. Im surprised you feel inebriated on it...if you feel like it's not right for you then I would definitely talk to yr pdoc. I wish you luck! Hugs
