I have the same diagnosis as you except I don't have ADHD and do have BPD. It it very trying. I just got out of a severe depression a few weeks back which was great but in the last few days the PTSD, which had been quite for over 18 months, has arched up really bad. I feel like I am drowning

Professionally diagnosed:
DID
PTSD
Agoraphobia
Schizotypal Personality Disorder
Major Depression with psychotic features

The new pdoc is saying the personality disorder diagnosis and psychotic depression should be changed to schizoaffective depressive type.

Guess we'll see what happens, but even is that does change, I'll have multi-diagnoses.

Hi there! You are in good company. I'm rapid cycling Bipolar I; PTSD; BPD in remission; and psychotic depression with a bad case of anxiety thrown in just for jitters. I think the thing that I try to remember with this basketful of diagnoses is that I need to be super-duper good about self-care. It is a challenge, but doable on most days. I'm not having one of those days today, sort of white knuckling it, but soon sleep will come and I will get a new day. take care

Bpd.... I suppose u can give yourselves multiple diagnosis.. but in bp itself u could say it is adhd.. anxiety. Social anciety. Generalized anxiety. Autistic. ... I have 3 confirmed I just chalk it all under bp. ..

I seriously wonder what hasn't been discovered yet in the field of mental health? I have multiple dx, but I question the validity of putting so many labels on one person. I guess it's possible, since so many people have multiple dx, but I wonder if docs aren't just too quick to throw another dx in the mix?
I'm not questioning any of you, just typing aloud for myself. I wonder if some additional dx aren't caused as a side effect from the medications to treat the original dx. On seroquel, I was certain I had something else wrong when I started having visual and auditory hallucinations.

Just my questions I've been mulling over.
Thanks for this!

I could say in all honesty that I have alcoholism, anxiety, rapid cycling, psychotic features, and maybe even some ADHD thrown in there for fun. But my pdoc doesn't believe in putting an alphabet soup of diagnoses behind a person's name, and he's treating me for all of the above under the BP umbrella anyway. Works for me!

I am both BP II and GAD. My doctor treats the symptoms instead of the disease. There are pluses and minuses to this approach.

Everyone is "diagnosable" according to the various axes of the DSM. Which means everyone potentially has more than one diagnosis.
