So I'm just curious as to how long it takes for lithium to start working. I stared taking it Friday night, along with Cymbalta and Klonopin. I know Cymbalta can take a few weeks to notice any effects. However, I already feel good. I was in a mixed episode when I went inpatient. I don't know if the lithium could already be starting to show effects, or if I'm just getting that much relief from Klonopin. I mean, I think Klonopin is amazing. My anxiety is almost nonexistent at this point. I can have worrisome thoughts, but I don't feel anxious about them. I don't find myself obsessing over them as much either. But even mood wise I feel good. Can Lithium work this quickly?

It has to reach a target level. Usually takes takes a week to reach a peak level. Blood is drawn to where you are and if you need to be increased or decreased.

Mine was less than a week remarkably.

Took me about 2-3 weeks for the full effect to take place. And there will be regular blood tests to maintain and check levels.

Yes Lithium can start to work within a week, and Cymbalta and Lexapro are the only two ADs that can begin to work in just a week! Best of luck!
