Tell me about Latuda

Started outpatient today... dr putting me on latuda as well... hest of luck I start.tonight. 3 nights at 20mg then 7 nights at 40mg I'll be in outpatient for at least one more week. Maybe 2.. gl!

Im doing a week at 20 then a week at 40 then forever at 60. I hope it treats you well and congrats on getting outpatient .

Most all the studies I have read about it shows it has more of an effect on the depression side of BP not so much on Mania .. But everyone reacts differently

Will lithium control mania then?

Im reading that you should eat 350 calories with your dose ?

Sheesh. My ex friend decided to say a bunch of mean things to me today via facebook chat. We used to be such good friends but as far as i can see, ever since she became an alcoholic she just plain a mean drunk. She swears she cant get meds so she has to drink. I think shes mad at me because im on medicaid. Who knows. I do know shes a drunk and i dont have to abide her meanness. And she likeky wont change. My dad is still an alcoholic at 67 so why should my friend be any different? I need to surround myself with GOOD friends!

Maybe i should get to bed early. Unfortunately i slept until 3 today! Stupid. Mustnt do that!

Been on it for many years up to 160mg. Then finally figured the movement disorder I had for years was akethasia and cause by my latuda. I suffered for several years. I'm currently weaning off and got rid of the akethasia at 40 mg but ruminating returned with mood fluctuations. So at 60 mg akethasia came back! It's horrible! And other meds affect the same. I'm worried about not finding something. Good luck! I had no weight gain. Help with suicidal thoughts. And depression.

What are you having done? I have many tattoos and love them! Forearms, hands, lower legs, chest. If I had the $$ I'd get another one.

It looks like it’s hit or miss with this one. My dr wants to put me on it, but I don’t want to. They just increased my lithium to 900mg... so I want to see how I react to that before I add anything else. So far I do feel a little better, but honestly I don’t know what my new normal is supposed to feel like... when do you ever know for sure that any medicine is actually working or is it just in our mind?

I hope it turns out great. Funny thing is I’ve never wanted a tattoo but when I was manic I wanted a big one across my back!! If it had not been for Covid I may have gotten one. My husband kept telling me I needed to wait for 3 months to be sure and I got so mad at him. I thought he was trying to control me. He suspected that I had bipolar but nobody in my family would believe him because I’m 42 and we all thought that was too old to have a first episode. Well I’m glad I didn’t get the tattoo because I’m back to not wanting one lol

Here's what I'll throw out there. It's true for me. Have no idea if it is for anyone else.

Obsessive rumination is typical with BD. So you're going around and around in your mind about medication. Around, around, like a hamster on a wheel. As soon as you think you might be close to a resolution - there you are, right back to ruminating, questioning, endless questioning. Essentially your mind is stuck in gear.

So how do you know if a med is working? One way to know is that you feel stable. You feel like the ground you're standing on is level. Nothing is suddenly going to fall out from beneath you, and you're not going to tip over.

Your mind isn't stuck in ruminating over the same set of questions, over, over, over, no break.

You know a med is working because you know it's working. You don't feel compelled to keep obsessively asking yourself, because you feel more confident about how you feel and what you're doing. "Yeah, this stuff is really helping me." And you can look back on the "before", compare, and see the difference between then and now clearly.

Even the best meds don't mean you won't have times of relapse. But those times are generally shorter and less intense. And sometimes you need to adjust meds to meet your current needs.

I don't know if this makes any sense, at all. I hope it helps answer your question a bit.
