Hey all -- I know I am a bit of pest on here...but...

As you know, I recently had a bad experience on Geodon and switched to Abilify.

Well, after nearly two weeks of Abilify, I have found that it gives me tension headaches, a stiff neck, I am constantly scowling, and always in a hypo-manic state....

So I didn't take it last night and slept ALL through the night to me alarm for the first time since taking it. Phew....and I actually feel tired today....

So I think I am gonna all my doctor's nurse today and tell her that I don't think Abilify is for me....and that I am thinking maybe just therapy along with AD and Gaba, might have to be enough....

I am not sure....I sure liked getting a lot done while hypo, but I was making people very uncomfortable with my craziness and energy on this drug...

Hmm....

Thoughts?

Certainly if you feel better off the drug then it is your right to stop taking it. Why was it added? If it's making you hypo then you shouldn't take it. Abilify does sometimes have an activating effect.

I went 10 years with out meds. All to find myself needing them again. I know the perks this comes with, I can't believe how much pills are used these days. Stuck in a rut here too.

Sometimes it can take a lot of trail and error to figure out what works for you. As you can see my list of current meds is probably WAY TOO LONG. I'm working on re consolidating and hopefully finding a more functional approach with treatment.

I tried going off my meds for awhile a few years back and found that a lot of my symptoms came back full force. So I'm between a rock and hard place but calling your doc and letting them know your side effects is one of the best things you can do.

Have you considered trying other options or has your doc even given you this option?

Abilify made me crazy and I found it actually intensified all of my symptoms. I was only on it for about 2 weeks.

Neurological side effects are a very serious matter and, can be tardive.
