Over the past week or so I have started to believe my house was haunted. Today, when I heard the sound of papers rustling and couldn't find an explanation, I became terrified. I called my husband who was able to explain away most of the "paranormal" activity. However, he asked me if I was sure I was ok because I sounded delusional and had I taken my meds this morning (as though missing one dose could cause mania). Anyway, I love him with my life but I can't understand why I can't have an irrational fear without it meaning I'm sick. Rant over. Anyone else experience this?

This might sound odd, but if you are gifted with one or more psychic abilities, or if you are starting to awake spiritually, the cause of that paranormal activity might be you. Your negativity might manifest itself in a poltergeist-like form.

Many people who wouldn't be diagnosed as mentally ill believe in the paranormal. Many people have irrational fears. Not everything needs to be pathologized. The problem with identifying too much with bipolar disorder is that you start to label everything as being because of the bipolar disorder.

Maybe I worded it improperly?

Sorry, was probably my reading comprehension. It's too bad he blames everything on the bipolar disorder, but if he can explain other reasons for the supposed paranormal activity, maybe do some examining your thoughts to see if that could be true? It could just be a fear, like you said, and you can get over fears.

I have a feeling he was taking the conservative path since mania can have severe consequences but I can relate.
