I have been taking Latuda and have developed this very restless feeling (akathisia) and terrible insomnia where I can only sleep for about 20 minutes at a time. My doctor has told me to stop taking it and has offered to let me try out Geodon instead. In anyone else’s experience, will Geodon produce similar side effects? I thought Latuda had a very positive effect on my mood, but just that the akathisia was absolutely intolerable.

Geodon made me very sleepy for the first four months or so. I took it for over a year. I got tartive dyskensive, involuntary muscle movement, my tongue pushing against my teeth. I backed off on the dose and that went away. one thing I didn't notice that we are crediting to the Geodon as it is neurological, is my pinkie started sticking up as it would when you drink a cup of tea. then my pointer finger like I was signing I love you. I have been off the Geodon for a month. my pointer finger is normal now but my pinkie still sticks out. I am very sensitive to meds. so this prob wont happen to you.

I was on Geodon for about two weeks. The only side effect I noticed was an increase in hostile paranoia, even more then my usual. Very strange reaction and probably pretty rare.

Geodon has been a good drug for me, very few side effects. Unfortunately, it's just not quite enough so I had to go on Zyprexa in addition. The combination works well. Hopefully you'll have even better luck with the Geodon than I've had.
