I just realized today that I have spent the last 2 weeks "rapid cycling". Up all night doing "projects" that were going to "make us a lot of money so we can catch up." The next day, crying and not able to even do my dishes. I've been on Celexa forever and my pdoc added Wellbutrin a month or so ago.

I have been receiving for treatment for years for depression with no great improvement. At one point I was put on Topomax and had a pretty intense manic episode, but only after my dr increased my dosage twice.

It's the only thing that has ever help me feel "not depressed" and I'm wondering if I should ask my pdoc if I can try it in a small dose with close monitoring by him.

Anyone have experience with Topomax?

He may hesitant to put you on a med that caused a manic episode before but it definitely wouldn't hurt to ask. An example would be myself, I'm on Invega Sustenna, Zoloft, Klonopin, and Trazodone. Before I was on all these they just put me on 150 mg of Zoloft and I had a horrible manic episode, now that I'm on the other stuff I felt like I needed a little boost from my depression so I asked to be on a small dose of Zoloft, I'm now on 50 mg, the low dosage and the other meds make a great combination without tipping me into mania. Sorry, I have no experience with Topomax, just wanted to share what happened when I got on a smaller dose of a med that originally made me manic.

I placed myself on Topomax years ago when I was medicating myself (stupid of me). I found it helped the mood swings. But I have never heard of it having AD effects.
