Would other people be interested in a sub-forum with soft bipolar (Bipolar 2)?

I think I would as I believe I have it. Not officially at the moment. I have had that dx in the past.

Maybe PM a mod and suggest the idea.

Absolutely, reader! I think that would be fantastic. Bipolar I and II are akin, but there are differences, and a bipolar II forum would be a place I'd love to visit.

That could be nice. I relate to all bp, but it would be nice to target some differences. Been dealing with bp2. For years. Thanks for idea

What unlived said. BP II is not soft. It's a hell of a way to eff up your life. The way I understand it, mania is greater in BP I; but in BP II, the depression is deeper. Either way, I don't mind that there's only one BP forum, but I would visit whatever kind of sub forum emerges.

I too would be interested in a bipolar 2 focus but have lots to learn about all kinds of experience and appreciate the support and information I've gotten from lots of people here.

Interested, I think there are enough differences that people would post/follow it.

I would be interested in a sub forum, especially to find out about what medications/ techniques people are using specific to treat/ cope with BP2. It won't stop me visiting the main Bipolar forum. Good idea.

yes. Bipolar depression is a significant problem in bipolar II (not saying it isn't as bad in bipolar I but it is recognised as occuring more often in bipolar II). I would like to read threads that are specifically referring to bipolar II

I would be interested. I think there are enough differences that it would be a good addition to this site. I would then have two forums to visit!

That sounds like a cool idea. I'm wondering how that would pan out for newcomers though, whether they suspect they have bipolar or they're newly diagnosed and still a bit confused. For example, I officially have bipolar 1 due to my mostly mixed-episodes, very rarely skyrocketing into classic mania. Not being a naysayer, mind. Just looking at it from all angles.

Please no. It will only splinter this forum and you will get less views, less replies, less advice. You might as well filter out useful replies by mere label.

With all due respect to venusss I disagree. People who aren't sure will still go to the bipolar forum. People who know they are BP2-- like me-- would benefit from a more focused forum to discuss. BP1 and BP2 are similar but there are differences, in both the manic/hypomanic and depressive phases of the cycle. I would love a forum where others have the same issues as I do. Don't get me wrong, I also love the main bipolar forum, and would continue to participate here as well.

I would love a forum specifically for people with bipolar 2. Especially looking to connect with b2 women.

I would also still visit both. I also visit anxiety, depression, coping with emotions, and other forums that would help with specific issue or questions.

I agree with this. Most all topics cover both anyways. So both Bipolar I and II would need to look at both to not miss out. So what is the point?

I think it would made it much more difficult to find an overview of all the kinds of situations Bipolar often brings to the table. But hey whatever works for people. I guess someone should ask DocJohn about adding a sub forum and then it would be up to him .

I think there's enough fighting about which is worse blah, blah, blah that it wouldn't be helpful. Often I and II depend on which pdoc you go to. Often one doesn't relies the start of an up episode. Which is always hypo-mania right? The treatment be it therapy, drugs, lifestyle is all the same. My BP mixture isn't the same mixture as anyone else and that's a good thing. I have not met many that don't have more than one DX. and those that do not generally don't because of there pdoc's believes. I feel the depression is not usually talked about on the forum because of it's isolating nature and the burdening feeling that comes with it. Maybe put BP2 in the title if anything.

No thanks, not for me

Not just because of the splintering Venus mentioned, but then where do BP NOS members post? Cyclothymics? And what about us BP 1.5 folk?

Or would BP 1 and 2 have sub forums and everyone in-between post on the main forum?

Too confusing...

Yep I stole that 1.5 bit, I'm officially 2 but have had what looks like glimpses of 1, so kind if in-between digits over here...

I'm not for splitting us up, stating your DX in your thread title should provide enough targeted replies...

I may be biased because I'm BP 1, but I wouldn't like the forum to be split up because people will probably group themselves into factions and then exclude members who don't share their 'brand' of BP. It's not just us here in the BP forum, it's human nature. I'd hate to see that happen to us.

If members want to post specifically about a specific BP designation, they can always include it in their thread title and/or ask advice from people with that diagnosis, just like we do now.

I just feel like it might make people feel isolated by possibly creating cliques within forums. We all have/possibly have bipolar disorder. None of us are alike regardless of the number beside the name. Its pretty much a spectrum in my eyes.

My opinion really doesn't matter but I just felt I should say that.

Love to all! <3

I'd like to see us all stick together.

There's waaay more common ground than not, and really, even professionals don't agree when it comes to making the call between a dx of I or II in quite a few situations.

If one is interested in questioning specific to I, II, NOS, what-have-you, putting it in the title or as part of the question should do the trick, just like now.

Plus, I have a hard enough time keeping up with all you fine people as it is(!) Once in a great while I do visit other areas of PC, but this is where I live, you know? This is home.

I'd just really really like to see us all stick together.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
