I was diagnosed with bp 4 years ago and it was only today I actually asked the doctor what type I have. His answer threw me off a bit. He said type 2 makes some sense, while I experience symptoms of type 1 from time to time so officially its bipolar-nos (not otherwise specified) with type 1 &2 tendencies.
I kinda feel like it embodies the fact you can't just group everyone in one box/one label there's always gotta be a on off.
Anyone else have this diagnosis?

That is so interesting. I wonder if that could be what I deal with because I seem to go to both ends of the spectrum as well. Thanks for sharing. It will give me something to look into.

After years being labeled bipolar (before type 1 and 2 designation), I noticed my current doc put diagnosis as mood disorder NOS. She has only seeneed me in depressed state but I have had several episodes of mania and hypomania so I guess I am an in betweener.

bipolar is bipolar.

You're bipolar, case closed.

I had the BP-NOS label for a couple of years because my pdoc couldn't quite put a finger on whether I was BP 2 or BP 1. Then I had a defining episode that earned me the diagnosis of BP 1. Then when I was in the hospital, the dx was changed to BP 1 with severe depression and anxiety.

TBH, I hated the NOS designation because it was so nebulous, and I went in and out of denial that I even had bipolar. Now the denial is completely gone and it's almost a relief to know exactly what I'm dealing with.
