I am finding myself in a general state of confusion a lot lately - when driving, when making decisions, remembering what to do, etc. When it comes to my meds I don't really know how much to take and when. I read the labels over and over but can't get myself to a point where I just know. I'm pretty sure I have messed it up a few times and taken the wrong stuff. There is not another adult in the house to help me. What should I do?

Can you buy a pill box? One with days of the week and times of day? They are large, but help keep everything straight if you have a lot of pills to take at different times of day.

Also, if you had the confusion and memory issues before you started taking meds, please see a doctor. You could have a B-12 deficiency, which causes confusion and short term memory loss. It's easily spotted through a blood test.

If the memory and confusion came after the meds and is not getting better, talk to your pdoc. That is not functional.
Thanks for this!

I agree I would talk to your pdoc about this, sounds like something is not right. I use pill boxes, one for the morning and one for the evening. I would find that if I didn't use these pill boxes I would question myself if I had taken all of my medications. Now it's a no brainier, if the box is empty for that day I took them.
Thanks for this!

I very much agree with BlackSheep.

Go to your local Walgreens or CVS and get one of these

Amazon.com: EZY Dose AM/PM 7Day Push Button 6/36 1 ea: Health & Personal Care

It's very easy to forget otherwise.

Pill boxes are a certain way to take the right meds daily morning and or nite. They have some that go a week to up to a month (altho that one is huge) Do you have a friend that can help you get it set up for a week or more?

Ok. I have 2 pill boxes here so I'm going to set one up for morning and one for night. I think part of my confusion is going from inpatient to the county pDoc. I should be able to get clearer directions this week. I think they may have given them to me, but I lost one paper . I'm very frustrated with myself. Thanks for the advice.

I have been there pink&grey! I swear the moment you start meds for bipolar, short-term memory goes out the door. I find myself spacing out too.

My opinion would be to take your meds the same time everyday. Either as you hop into bed or get out. As far as forgetting what day it is... I usually figure this out when overdressed for casual friday.
