So i go through times to where I have an extremely elevated mood, then slip into severe depression. Like, this elevated mood will allow me to think that nothing is wrong, and everything is great. Then, almost out of no where, I slip into extreme depression. To the point to where I constantly tell myself how much I hate life. These little cycles last days, and even up to 2 weeks. It's a tiring process.

HW18, but you are on meds so you already have a dx. Depression, sleep, anxiety seem to be the concerns looking at the meds list. Nothing for lessening the elevation. Why, if you cycle this way, does your psychiatrist only prescribe the anxiety-depr. meds?

Effexor, in fact all anti-depressants, can bump you into a hyper mood. I would ask my dr about your mood swings and see if a mood stabilizer is in order. There are many conditions on the bipolar spectrum (like cyclothymia). I always read up on things so I have info to back me up when I have questions.
