My OCD spiked a couple months ago and now that I'm looking back, I think I was having a manic/mixed episode too. I didn't sleep at all, and the pictures kept coming and coming and my head just wouldn't stop but I felt like ****. I had 6-7 panic attacks, my head hurt from the constant pounding of the thoughts (plus my compulsion had to do with breathing at the time) I'm not sure but I'm on Zoloft and I read that SSRI's cause mania, I've been on it for about 2 months now and nada. I mean I've had a week or so that I felt amazing, but nothing like I did a few months back. I'm confused, I've don't a ****-ton of research, but I'm wondering if I really am just painting it. Another thing that makes me suspect mania is that the thoughts were different, I had my normal ones that I thought that bad things would happen to me like nukes or solar flares, but I FELT the "world" move, and I thought that the sun was in love with me; I've never remembered having thoughts like that before and I heard psychosis was a symptom of mania, please help.
Hugs from:

Contact your pdoc. We can't diagnose or tell you one way or another. Seek pro help, please.

Please see a qualified psychiatrist or psychologist as soon as you can. None of us are doctors and thus we are unable to give you any sort of diagnosis, or speculate on what you might have. Wishing you the best of luck in finding out what's going on.

Hi 123,

I am glad that you felt comfortable to share your story with us and what you have been feeling and experiencing.

There are certain diagnostic criteria that one must meet in order to meet the criteria of bipolar, as there are characteristics that one would need to meet to be diagnosed with OCD.

Sometimes, some psychiatric disorders can overlap in terms of symptoms.

So it's really not possible for anyone here to really say whether or not you could or could not be bipolar.

It would require careful consideration from your pdoc, who can take all the facts into account, including your OCD tendencies, and including careful consideration of medications that you are or aren't on.

I wish you success in discussing this with your pdoc in order for you to get some answers that you are seeking.

Take care and let us know how it goes.
