When I read about bipolar, it always talks about bipolar 1 and 2 and rapid cycling, but with me it is often extreme. I will feel suicidal and then 10 minutes later be happy and irritable, and then 10 minutes later want to travel the world and then an hour later want to hide in a dark closet. What is it called when you have such dramatic mood changes throughout the day?

Ultradian cycling.

Check this website out. It explains it very well.

Rapid cycling and mixed states as "Waves"

I'm somewhere between ultradian and ultra-rapid cycling. Talk about feeling like a yoyo.
Thanks for this!

Are you on any medication? If so it appears that they are not doing the job obviously. Have you contacted your Pdoc? How is your sleeping ? Are you able to eat? Work? Can you carry on a understandable conversation with others?

You could very well be Rapid cycling but that actually means more than 4 distinct episodes in a 12 month period.

Ultradian cycling means Yes you can have numerous mood shifts in a single day ..but, its very very rare to be honest.

I am no medical doctor of course , but I would think a Mixed episode is more likely. Mixed episodes are literally pure hell on earth.

You really need to contact your Pdoc, "usually" they will hit it hard with an AP of some kind to knock it down, Or make adjustments to your currents meds, doesn't mean you will always need "that Ap"( if one is prescribed) But it just can help put an end to the pure hell.

I'm really sorry your in such a horrible place. Please get help from your Pdoc as soon as possible. I know its Holiday times and your Pdoc may be unreachable, so worse case you can go to your ER. Most Er's are not thrilled to mess with any psych meds to be honest but if your not sleeping ( which is a huge distablizer for Bipolar) they may in fact prescribe a sleeping med to help you until you can see your Pdoc.

I hope your able to get help ASAP, My heart goes out to you .

I have been feeling exactly the same and whenever I have looked into it, it has always come up as bipolar...

Just throwing this out there as ultraradian cycling is extremely rare...

there is also Borderline PD which shares many similarities to bipolar and includes the much more rapid mood shifts.

I'd recommend talking to a psychiatrist if you're really wanting to have a diagnosis of some sort for yourself.

There is a lot of controversy over ultradian cycling and some doctors say that is borderline personality disorder especially if thats how u feel all the time. If this is an isolated episode different from how you normally feel then i would go with mixed

And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
