My 10 year term life insurance is up in March and we have to renew it. It's 7am on a Saturday so can't call my insurance guy so thought maybe someone here has had some experience. I know they always call with a million health questions and now that I have an official diagnosis on paper I am worried they will deny or make me pay a bigger premium.

We are not getting a new plan, just renewing it, but I think they just call. I have universal but upping that cost more, but we may just need to up that if no physical is needed.

I tried to get some term life a few years ago. They asked what doctors I had seen, and I was honest and listed my pdoc. I had to get his office to fax in all of my file to them. More than the bipolar, they looked at alcohol abuse in the record (I was teetering on an Alcoholism Ledge - that I later went over) and flat out refused to cover me.

All of my other health statistics were "super-preferred" but no luck. Not sure how bipolar affects it all, but you might have challenges finding coverage. I eventually got life insurance through my employer, which is a bit costlier, but they cannot deny you for anything really. Best of luck and please let us know how it turns out.

I have yet to find a "decent" policy that is "Okay" with a Bipolar diagnosis.

crap- I am going to call my guy tomorrow and pray that it won't matter if I am just keeping same plan, just renewing it.

Now that I have a dx on paper I can't hide it. When I just took anti depressants I had no dx and saw no pdoc.

Any insurance policy is null and void if there is a suicide , So I dont see why it should be such an issue anyway..
