Hello everyone! I have been diagnosed with bipolar type 2 for a while now and I was thinking about times in which I may have been manic. Of course, with type 2 they're less severe however still noticeable. I recall that after one argument with a friend I had weeks ago, everything, literally everything, spiraled out if control. However, I will admit that my medication was also acting weird as I was getting very tired from time to time. I do not believe I was manic per se, but I was definitely depressed for somewhere near a month.
I just wanted to know if it was possible for an incident like this to cause such a long time of bad feelings and such? Thank you so much for your time and have a wonderful night or day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Mania is not incidental. It is a mood swing that lasts for several days or more. As far as an incident preceding depressed feelings, this has happened to me. IMO the incident could of been the trigger that led you to spiral down into depression. JMO FWIW

Bipolar 2 can be a series of highs and lows just like bipolar I. I have long periods of depression with only short times of being hypomanic. I have been stable for four months but of late have been showing signs of hypomania or a mixed episode and now sinking into a low depressive cycle. Unfortunately, it is just part of the disease.
I don't know that the highs cause the lows. I think that it is just part of the cycle. Sort of, what goes up must come down or at least that's the way it works with me.

SilentNinja, when you say it caused such a long time of bad feelings, do you mean you were obsessing over the incident, replaying it over and over in your mind?
Just curious, because I'm bipolar II and also have a very obsessive personality. I think it can be a vicious cycle of obsessing on a bad event which feeds depression, and depression in turn keeps the bad event coming back in one's mind. |

I mostly meant along the lines of suicidal and homicidal ideation, self harm thoughts and stuff like that. However, I would replay the incident which only made everything else worse. I've been wondering about that too... However I thought that by accepting her apology or by talking about the issue it would somehow remedy these thoughts so that they wouldn't go through my mind over and over again.
