So, I used to be on 30 mgs of Abilify and 200 mgs of Sertraline. The doc took me off as we're going to start Lamictal, but I feel amazing! Not hypo manic or anything, I just feel myself again. It's so awesome! I definitely did not expect this. Has anyone experienced this? Should I wait to start the Lamictal?

That's great that you feel well off meds! Have you gone off these meds before? I ask that as everytime I come of an anti-depressant I tend to feel great, then hypomanic and once manic. I am going through this process again now and i feel awesome. Think I will be stearing clear of AD's in the future as deep depression seems to always follow my intense highs.

If your normal remains stable then I wouldn't start any new meds. Maybe you can manage the BP without meds, many do.

But do you think I'll end up in the dumps if my high keeps up?

I'm confused. In your original post, you said you feel normal, not hypomanic, but now you say you feel high. If you feel unusually good, then it might be a good idea to start the lamictal since it takes several weeks to just get to the lowest therapeutic dose. After you get to 100 mg, maybe you can reassess? The problem, as always, is that everything takes so long to kick in and it's hard to find that balance once it's out of whack.

You need to take your meds sweety.

I've heard of the "pink cloud" when just coming off meds, but it wears off soon. You just don't feel drugged which is refreshing, but it doesn't mean that your not bipolar. You are now untreated bipolar, and I would start meds right away. It does take awhile to get to a therapeutic level on Lamictal. For me it was 300 mg, for others it's 100mg or even 50mg.

Please consider this, you can only add 50mg every week. For me to get to 300mg, it took 6 weeks of perfect timing. A lot can happen in that time. You also got to level up and wait to see if it's working per dosage upped which means it probably took me about 14 weeks to get to 300mg.

I just recently came out of lala land. I was there for a year thinking my meds were right. I ended up in the hospital where another 100 mg was added which centered me fine.

Please don't be messing around if you value your stability.

When I get med free, I instantly start falling apart.

If you are indeed hypomanic or manic then it is definitely possible that you will fall into depression. Although, this does not always happen.

Sorry, I didn't mean that I feel high, it just feels high to be as I've been so low lately. I really don't think I'm hypo. I think I'm "normal?" I don't even know what my normal is anymore. Thanks for the responses.

The thing is lamictal caters to the depressive side of the illness. I would go ahead and still take it to make sure you don't go into a depression. You could also request to stay off meds for a bit and monitor your moods using one of many mood tracking aps or websites. The only thing is, being off meds, if you do happen to go into a depressive or hypo/manic state, the meds used to treat it generally take weeks to work, so you end up in a possibly bad situation.

Pardon me, I personally wouldn't do the off meds thng. Nobody is healed that's bp.

Secondly, I stabilize on the depressed side is why I take a small amount of anti d to feel normal. To each there own

Talk to your pdoc and find a plan that is suitable for YOU

I was just stating options. I'm medicated and prefer to stay that way.
