the depakote along with all the other meds i am taking have helped stabalize my mood. however lately i have been getting episodes of pure rage. whatever it is that sets me off takes me to another level. when it occurs i try to isolate myself for a while until I calm down. have any of you experienced that? i mean usually i would be majorly depressed and then get into a high where i over exert myself and make myself crazy trying to clean, sing songs out load and act outrageous. thanks for listening, just wondering if anyone has experienced these rages.

Hi Agony,
I don't know much about bi-polar, although my sister has been diagnosed with it but your RAGES title got my attention since I'm dealing with anger issues.
I can say when I was on meds for my anxiety my irritation level seemed to increase if I wouldn't take them consistently at the right times. Could that be it?
If not then, I don't know.
I'm sorry you're feeling soooo mad and angry. I understand. It makes you feel horrible about yourself in the aftermath. I'm exercising and hoping it'll help me with my anger. I'm not sure if exercising will help for you though.
I hope you find something that helps you through this.

Yes I had severe rages during my initial treatment and spent months falling into depressions because of guilt from my rages. It took me over a year to learn to control them for the most part, and by that I mean still dealing with the emotions that drive them and the uncontrollable frustration that follows , but coping with them by seeing them coming and using biofeedback methods. I do anything that I can to calm my anxiety because my anxiety causes rages

I'm not Bipolar but my husband was just recently diagnosed with Bipolar, at the ripe old age of 67. Go figure! One of his symptoms are uncontrollable rages. Since he's been put on Depakote, they seem to be more managable... sorta. He claims he doesn't feel it coming. All of a sudden, he's just throwing things and wanting to kick the dog for no reason. It's really scary!

i get them too & feel like a pathetic waste of protoplasm for having them. i hate myself for them. i try to remove myself from ppl when i feel rage.

try to put your energy into running or some other form of exercise.

i dont know whats worse........the horrible rages or the debilitating depression.

sorry you have them too. they truly suck.

Raging is the reason I sought treatment in the first place. I become a totally different, irrational, delusional, and dangerous person.

I think depakote has helped and also just learning how to slow down my responses to certain situations.

Thanks everyone for your posts and support. I have controlling my rages better. Doc adjusted one of my meds. But I guess no matter how many adjustments are made, I have no guarantee that I will stay well. But i am satisfied for the time I have feeling as "norma" as I can be.

thank you hun,

i really appreciate your offer. i have controlling myself by reading, it has helped me a lot. i also started focusing on prayer again. i need to get back in touch with my spirituality which is very important. the big GUY blesses me everyday and i need to honor those blessings and praise him because he is worthy. He has proven time and time again that he doesn't put anything in my path that i cannot handle.

thank you again, i am very blessed to have you as a friend.
