I'm hoping for some ideas/perspectives on medication.

I'm about 2.5 years into a diagnosis of BP II. I'm on 150mg of Lamictal. That has been the one drug that has been constant since the beginning.

As for other drugs I've tried them all - Prozac, Wellbutrin, Celexa, Topamax, Zoloft

None of them have given me any sort of real feeling of happiness or even well-being. My favorite though has been Wellbutrin because it can at least get me moving out of bed.

I have just had a sense of overall nervousness and anxiety no matter what, at all times.

Should I experiment with upping my Lamictal? That's the only thing we haven't changed.

I'm becoming terrified that I'm "treatment - resistant".

Thank you so much.

hi featherweight
it doesnt look like you have tried any of the AP's for bipolar, geodon, saphris, zyprexa, latuda and such.

i do believe you can take higher doses of lamictal as i believe i was on higher than that when i was taking it. i am doing successful on topamax but i still had about 2 manias a year. we added geodon which knocked it out completely but then i got tartive dyskenisia. i am highly sensitive to meds though. i always get the contact your doctor immediately side effects.

welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

I agree with Kaliope, an increase in Lamictal and/or addition of and anti-psychotic may help you. AP's are really good at helping with agitation and irritability. Lamictal is more for depression and mood stability.

There was a time when I was called 'treatment resistant' but now I am finally making progress with the right diagnosis and pdoc (some say you are treatment-resistant because they cannot do their job properly). 2.5 years into treatment is not that long so don't be discouraged, there is hope for you. Hang in there.
