It kicks in pretty fast i think..especially if you are new to it. Even the smallest dose at the beginning does it for alot of ppl. Its actually famous for knocking ppl out lol
But maybe the dose isnt enough if you are really wired. Or if its only been an hour u may be conked out soon
Good luck!

It brought me out of the manic episode that got me hospitalized. I think it helped me sleep more than anything else. What dosage are you on currently? It didn't help me sleep until I reached about 300 mg—I was pretty manic—and then I was zombie for a couple days, haha.

It's pretty much the only thing that allows me to sleep. I've had horrible insomnia all my life and seroquel helps that and seems to keep me stable.

It's the only med that gets me asleep. Although I'm now up to 400mg a night.

My experience was that I took it daily for 6 months. I kept getting more agitated by the day. My family and friends kept saying I was cranky all the time. I saw my doctor and she saw how agitated I was and sent me to a psych. Sadly this didn't help we didn't realise the medication was making me angry to the point I had a full blown psychotic break down that included violence towards family members and myself.

I found that the Seroquel XR works best for stabilization. (400 mg at night) I know when I find myself climbing the ladder, I add 25 mg of Benadryl with it and it helps me fall asleep faster and actually "STAY" asleep for longer then 3 to 4 hours. Keep in mind the larger the dose (or adding the XR form) can cause daytime drowsiness. I know for most it works pretty fast, but for me I have to take it about 2 hours before I go to bed.

Thank you Sky101 = I am glad that you have updated us to let us know that it was successful in helping you sleep. That is good news.

I find for me it's relative to the mood state that I am in and the dosage I am on.

But I think for a lot of BP yes, this is certainly a very effective medication indeed.

I hope you continue to get rest.
