Ever since I started taking Latuda I have had a few nights where I can barely sleep because I'm so itchy!! Tonight is one of those nights I can't think of any other reason this would be happening. Has this happened to anyone else?

I've not been on Latuda, but 4 other bipolar drugs have caused me to itch from my scalp to between my toes. I wonder whether they all have the same spectrum of possible side effects.

Sorry, I'm up tonight scratching too. What a way to live, eh? Hope it goes away ...

I think its a common side effect of the psych meds .

Sometimes I think all the sideeffects we put up with and are subjected to are almost as bad as being unmedicated ,,or at least thats how Im feeling today .

Maybe try some Benadryl and call the Doctor tomorrow .

Good Luck

Heh, you could always ask about the stuff they're giving me for anxiety - hydroxyzine hcl - apparently the main use of it is as an antihistamine - anti-itch! Takes care of itches and anxiety, all in one go.

Of course, I find it makes me fall asleep way earlier than I'd intend, and I'm groggy the next day. Not a miracle drug for me.

I was put on Latuda (20mg at night) to replace some Geodon that was no longer working. After about a week I started itching. Two months now and 50 mg of Benadryl won't touch it. I have to sleep with the house cold and a fan blowing on me to calm the itching down.

I have never itched this bad without being covered in hives. If it continues, and from what I read it sounds like it does, I will have to try something else.

If you check websites (e.g. Latuda Side Effects in Detail - Drugs.com for "Latuda side effects," you'll find itchiness listed as infrequent.
You're apparently one of those especially sensitive to something in this med. personally, I'd tell my pdoc and find something else. The goal do treatment isn't to trade miseries.
I have a bit of skin sensitivity from Topamax, like pins pricking now and then, but it's occasional & the benefits are enormous. It's up to you, but I'd want to know there wasn't something better for me.
Welcome to PsychCentral. Keep coming back, & let us know what you decide.

I've been on latuda for about 2 weeks now, and I'm noticing some itchiness. its not been so bad that its keeping me up at night, but this is definitely something new. other than that I'm pretty happy with its effects thus far.

If it's really bothering you, can you skip a night to see if it disappears? That'll give you a better idea of its alleged cause.

Side Effects
See also Warning section.

Drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, shaking, weight gain, mask-like facial expression, inability to keep still, and agitation may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Your doctor may order another medication to lessen these effects.

This medication may cause a serious drop in blood pressure, especially when starting this medication. To reduce your risk of side effects from low blood pressure (such as dizziness), get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects...

Can be a symptom of irritation/agitation? Call your pharmacist or doctor right away hun.
