It's sat night here so I have no idea who to call or if I need to call. I see a county mental health and have no after hours number.

I took my night meds this am, and left my am meds in the box. other than I head ache I've not noticed any problems.

In the am I take propranolol and synthroid. At night I take lamicatal, Latuda, ambien, propranolol and melatonin.

I took them at eight this am and did sleep for another 4 hours but aside from the headache no problems. My question is do I take them tonight or wait until tomorrow night?

Any ideas?

Awwwe (((sidestepper)))!!! I thought I was the only one here that does this, and not only once I'm ashamed to say.

I also took my night time pills in the AM and had to call in a sick day from work because...well I would be asleep in 20 minutes flat.

I decided not to take my AM meds since I had the PM's in me. Later that night I took my PM meds as scheduled and resumed my AM meds the next morning.

I did have a hang over for a couple of days and some minor discomfort from missing the morning pills. It took me a few days to get back to feeling normal again.

I feel for you. I would suggest you put your pills in labeled pill carriers or keep them in different rooms of the house, but it has not helped me. I hope you feel better soon.

I would wait.. But to actually get a good medical opinion , Call your Pharmacist. They are very helpful when it comes to these kinda of mix ups .

Good luck !

That has been my biggest fear. It hasn't happened yet. I have those pill holders one for am and one pm. Sorry this happened to you, and especially on the weekend. I hope it doesn't alter your mood to badly.

The pharmacist are are usually really helpful.

If it was me I'd skip the night dose and resume normal medication schedule tomorrow. You might feel a bit crap but it'll go back to normal once you are back on track.

The pharmacy was closed but I think I'll wait until tomorrow night if I can. maybe a half dose if I'm still awake at 3-4 in the morning. I'd rather not chance another overdose like this am.

Thanks for the replies.

I usually wait. I'm more fearful of overdosing then I am of under dosing. Only one can hurt Ya and the other makes you feel uncomfortable.

I sentiment the others here - pharmacist.

It's a pity yours is closed.

I'm unsure what advice to give here because I'm not a medical professional.

So the best I can offer is to say if it were me, personally, I would wait until my next scheduled dose rather than taking it and having a dose thats way too high in your system.

Thanks everyone for the good advice. It's nice to know this forum is here when a person isn't sure what to do. All the experience and knowledge here here is so valuable it should be bottled and sold as solid gold.

I didn't take anything, been awake watching DVDs and reading all night. Just took the am meds and thinking I'll take the pm a bit early and hope to sleep then. But it was a much more restful night knowing I was probably doing the right thing. I'm not going to worry about one night of missed sleep. It seems I'm not alone in mixing up my meds and one sleepless night isn't always going to mean the start of an episode.

I have a morning pill box and an evening pill box. They are both different sizes. Since I have more pills to take in the morning, I use the big box for my morning meds. They come in all different sizes, shapes, and colors.

That's a very good idea. Currently I have my am and pm in the same box one on top and the evenings on the bottom. I have quite a few different sized boxes from years ago but this time when I went back on meds I just figured they all fit into this one and it takes up less room. I've been trying to remember if I ever did this before and honestly I can't. I went on a almost ten year refusal to take any meds to the realization that they were right, I really do need meds. Of course I burned a lot of bridges in that time. Before that I i didn't really think I needed them and I don't think I was very good at taking them, if I missed a dose or took too much I didn't care. Not to mention I was on AD most of the time and they definitely do not help. So I convinced myself that being hospitalized less off of meds was prof that I wasn't BP it was the meds not me. Now stability means much more to me than whether or not I have a label.

Right on. Size works for me so much better than color. Big means morning. Small evening. It's very important when your hung over especially. Colors I get confused! Lol

I just saw this thread after the emergency was over, but since a lot of people seem to be reading it, I just want to add that if you're in the US, the main number for the American Association of Poison Control Centers is 1 (800) 222-1222.

That number will route you to the center closest to you. I called in the middle of the night a few months ago because my pharmacy mistakenly put a Parkinson's drug in my pill bottle instead of klonopin and I took 3 at bedtime. I started feeling really sick about an hour later and couldn't reach a psychiatrist or my pharmacy, so I called the poison control center kind of out of desperation.

I was amazed by how knowledgeable the woman I spoke with was. She was some type of "super-nurse" and talked to me for nearly a half hour, explaining how the medication was going to make me feel and how long it would take to get it out of my system and that it shouldn't harm me seriously in any way.

I was able to go to sleep after talking to her. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure I would have been awake all night waiting to see what was going to happen.
