I am going through a seriously depressive phase that is lasting much longer than any other I have ever experienced. I sleep all day and if I could sleep all night I would. I have three businesses that I run but they are currently being neglected. I know what I need to do to get better but I am not doing it this time. I feel like I am on a bipolar treadmill. Any suggestions?

You answered your own question.

" I know what I need to do to get better but I am not doing it this time."

Why aren't you doing it this time?

I don't really know. I think I am afraid of the cycle and I am tired. My depression usually lasts for short periods with long periods of mania. The mania is scary. It may be safer to sleep through everything.

Yep. That is what we always have to do. It will pass. That is what I tell myself over and over again.

Are you on good meds? Maybe you need a change?

Hi Thom,

I am sorry to hear that you are having a hard time at the moment.

Hang in there.

This too shall pass.

All I can say thom is that I empathize with you. I have been in the longest depressive phase of my life too. Aside from a med change, I'm wondering if you're in therapy?

I remember a couple years back a really long depressive phase i went through. I feel for you my friend
But you may not have to pick between mania or depression. Is it possible you can work with pdoc on new meds to try and stabilize?
Good luck

Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes

Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

Maybe a tweak in medication would help? Also, do you exercise? Even before I was diagnosed with BP, much of the depression came from being a couch potato. Sounds like you are super busy with three businesses but are you taking care of yourself as well? Even people without BP have to exercise to stay focused and keep energy levels up. Managing three businesses would be overwhelming for anyone so don't beat yourself about it. I am currently experiencing an intense sleep cycle, but I also recognize that my sleep patterns are out of whack. I am mostly sleeping during the day which isn't so good but it is when my body wants to sleep. Try watching some movies you enjoy and motivate you...and stay away from negative people...healthy people can survive them but depressed people swallow that stuff.

That is good advice bp2014. Thanks. The only thing is I can't seem to get the motivation to get up and actually do it.
