So I was just diagnosed a month or so ago. I've always had problems with depression since I was 12. Well I fell into one of the worst depressions I'd ever experienced a year ago and was put on Effexor. And then I lost my mind and was manic for months. Spending, risky behaviors, tons of energy, pressured speech.. You name it. I was textbook manic. My doctor said it was antidepressant induced mania and that I was bipolar. He had me go off of the effexor l, and I think I might still be experiencing withdrawals, along with trying to adjust to new meds. I guess what I've seen with these ups and downs ive been having may not be the bipolar and more from the meds? Because I go from being very very down to feeling GREAT (What I'd consider hypomanic) in a matter of days. Is this too quick of a cycle? I guess I'm just trying to figure out what the beep is going on with my moods.. I see my doctor on Tues and I'm going to bring this up. But is it even possible to cycle that quickly?

It very well could be your meds. Messing with my meds puts me on a roller coaster every time.

I remember when I first got diagnosed and the whole med thing began, I could be in a normal mood in the morning, hypomanic by late morning, super anxious mid-afternoon, then depressed from early evening on. I just did a med change and dealt with irritability and hypo symptoms caused by it. Things just calmed down now after about 4-5 weeks now that my body is getting adjusted.
Thanks for this!

I would bet my money that it's the meds based on my years of being on the med-merry-go -round. And just realize that it can take a LOT of trial and error with meds. Meds can work for awhile and sometimes have to be tweaked. After years of paying attention to my moods I know what to look for when I'm going thru a drastic change that will require a tweak. Just know this isn't an easy fix, but when you do find the right meds it will help tremendously but you also need therapy to get coping skills. Meds aren't a fix all. Good luck.
