My best guess is the state in between the 2 poles, where you're neither manic or depressed.

I agree with wiretwister. "Normal" is fairly meaningless. Different people have different states that they would consider normal. If you're going through hard things in life, it's normal to feel a bit down. If you're watching the birth of your first child, elation is normal.

I think it's easier to think about it in terms of "rational" or "irrational". Meaning that there is a reason for you to feel as up or as down as you do. If your feelings are a rational reaction to your circumstances, given your unique personality, then you could be considered normal.

Does that make sense?

I've had times in which I didn't have much normalcy. Right now is probably the most stable, "normal" that I have been in years. I contribute it to finally finding some meds that are working together to keep me on an even keel.

Until now I've spent most of my life either up or down, mostly down. I am grateful for the time I have now and hope it lasts for a while, but I know that it can change in an instant.
