I take Prozac 30 mg with Lamictal 200 mg, and it makes me slightly hypo which I like, always in a good mood. It's like a 6 on a mood scale. The problem being is that I'll wake up at 3 am regardless of what time I went to bed up to midnight with my head buzzing with energy and restlessness. I reduced my dose to 25 mg and was able to sleep all night finally. Now I'm in a ho-hum mood with leanings towards depression.

ITS NOT FAIR! It sucks that I have such a fine line between feeling good and side effects. 5 mg isn't really much

Now I get to choose between sleeping or maintaining a good mood. I already took a boost of AD to feel better.

What would your choice be? I'm still undecided.

I cant really say that antidepressants cause my insomnia, but I know that I tried seroquel and it made me manic. Its commonly known that some antidepressants cant spark mania so it wouldnt be too far fetched to think that it may cause insomnia?

Went on mirtazapine and it caused me to become manic. I have been off of it for 4 weeks now and am unmedicated and I am pretty manic, sleeping only 2-3 hours a night.

I'm just confused because I was taking a stabilizer also. Sure AD causes mania, but I wasn't figuring on not hardly sleeping :/

This is why I take my baby dose of Celexa in the morning rather than bedtime. I don't sleep at night, I become manic, and vice versa.....far better for me to take the AD with my mood stabilizer when I get up.

ADs with or without stabilizers abd AP send me straight to mania...I guess you can call that insomia.

For me, personally, yes, they can contribute towards my insomnia.

I always take mine in the morning by rule of thumb.
