My mind is like a strainer. Information comes it, and it goes out. I had OCD so bad in high school that I didn't attend, so it is hard to say if this problem existed before I started taking psyche meds. I am on lithium 1500. I had a huge 6 months longs manic episode on 900, which is why it is so high. I like the med but I am not sure why I can't retain information. Any help?

Hmm...I took 1200mg and had a hard time concentrating and retaining information and its seems to have gotten better since I stopped taking lithium. But...I don't know if that's whats happening with you. That seems a high dose (I thought 1200 was ridiculous!)

I guess Id say you need to speak with the prescriber and discuss the pros and cons of it and decide what is best for you.

I was on 1800 for several years and my mind was more like a bucket with no bottom LOL - at least a sieve retains SOMETHING. Eventually when my kids started needing a parent with more retentive capacity I asked my doc if we could lower/dc/switch and she worked with me to get off it (then my husband lost his job and I haven't been able to get back on a different MS.. it's been interesting)

How soon after taking lithium did you see improvements?

It took maybe a few weeks for things to really start improving for me, but I was on 1800mg/day for over 11 years - I can only imagine the length of time played a part.
