Hi,

Time tends to absolutely fly when i am hypomanic.

But when i am in one place for an extended period of time (over 4 hours) i tend to get really hungry, even when i feel like i am hypomanic.

Can anyone relate? Is it a loss appetite for you, or is it simply forgetting to eat? Does anyone eat a lot during mania?

I lose appetite on the up and the down. The very low down. If im just a little way down I stuff myself silly but we know I am very down if I stop eating all together. When manic I eat on the go, rarely sit for meals etc.

My ex tends to lose unhealthy amounts of weight during her manic episodes due to a decrease in appetite. However, I think that has something to do with her becoming increasingly obsessed with being "skinny". Loss of appetite is one of the first warning signs that something is up but I'm sure it's different for everyone.

I lose my appetite during a depressive state. I tend to eat more during my ups.

I lose my appetite AND forget to eat when manic. Depressed, I also lose my appetite and my husband has to fix something and put it in front of me or I won't eat. It's when I'm between episodes that I eat a lot and really enjoy my food.

When manic I am usually too on the go to eat. I usually eat one meal at dinner time, probably out at a restaurant blowing mad money

I think this holds true for me as well

Although I do tend to gorge the week right before i become hypomanic

So it seems like being busy and a general shift in appetite is most common, regardless of the direction
