Well, if you've been on here long, you probably know that music is my heart...I've recently tried to express that here. I just shared this song on the daily thread but I wanted to share it with everyone also. It a beautiful song (words, music, vocals) and perfect, I think, for those of us who suffer from bipolar and depression. Listen if you are up to it. (Dar Williams is an amazing artist, btw).

"It felt like a winter machine that you go through and then you catch your breath and winter starts again and everyone else is spring bound."

I'll listen to it tomorrow since I try to not listen much at night but just wanted to say that I saw DAr in concert many years ago before she had made it on her own. She was opening for Sarah McLaughlin and was really good. That was like wow, 17 years ago.....time flies.

I really like Tori Amos and I liked the cranberries and alanis morissette back in the day. Good music!

That was beautiful.

I have a weird history of hearing people and then years later being like "Huh? Him? I saw him speak..." Happened with Dr. Oz. In grad school we were BRIBED to go hear this cardiovascular surgeon speak at a local hospital on women's heart health and they gave out all this free stuff just for going to the (free) talk. He was really interesting and not at all like he is now. Several years later my mom had been telling me about this dr on Oprah and then I happened to be at her house during Oprah and he was on and I said "I know him" and thought REALLY hard back to that pretty empty room back in grad school.

I can't stand concerts or public gatherings now b/c it is too noisy (missed Obama a couple of years ago) so that will be the end of my stories but I always thought the Dr Oz thing was kind of neat.

Oh good, just got a notification that my shirts shipped from Kohls. If I go inpatient I need long-sleeved shirts that fit since I gained a little weight during this episode when it was depression. That place is always an ice box. Hopefully I won't need them but if there's a risk of going in I want to be warm while I'm there and that risk has a ways to go yet even if the dr thinks we may make it.

Cashart-I've seen you say Pray so I am suggesting a Christian singer; please ignore if I'm wrong. But David Bailey was a Christian musician who graduated from the same college I did (how I found him). He was diagnosed with a very deadly brain cancer and given 6 months to live. He lived I believe 14 years. He spent that time writing and sharing music about hope, faith and life's challenges. I absolutely love his music and have many of his songs on my iPod and eventually will have even more because there are few of his songs that I do not love. The funny thing is that I fell in love with him music in college but I was severely depressed when he played on campus and I have no idea if I actually heard him or just loved someone else's CD. Whichever it was I love his music and it's, well, he called it "hippie folk music" but I just think it was great, soothing music that calms me (and I can only listen to very specific music without getting agitated.)

Also, did you see the Dar song about therapy?

I'm glad you like it. He was a pretty amazing man and I so wish that I had gone to one of the many performances I was invited to as an alumni.
