And it happened in the minimum time possible. Thank God!! It couldn't have come at a better time: my husband and I were within $200 of being flat broke. He only gets $679 a month in SS benefits, so we were about to get very desperate. I was also about to cancel our car insurance because we could no longer afford it. Then this big miracle arrived yesterday and now we know we'll make it. What a RELIEF!!

This also legitimizes my inability to work. Lately I've been anxious because I thought I was going to have to try again despite the fact that no one wants to hire a 56-year-old with a bad job history. Even thinking about it made me so incredibly anxious that I'd sweat and feel like I was going to have a heart attack.

Now I can stop hurling myself against that wall. What a blessing!

I know you had a lot of reservations about even applying. I'm so glad you got it the first time.

Congratulations! I was approved in 3 months and when I got the phone message I'd been approved I just cried in relief. That wait is so hard. I'm glad it is over for you.

It's an enormous relief. I hadn't really wanted to apply, thinking I could work if I just forced myself, but I fell apart when I went on job interviews and how the hell do you get a job when you can't even get past the initial interview? Still, I didn't want to think I was disabled, only that I had a disability, which of course I do, but to have it taken seriously affirms that I really do deserve the help.

Thanks to all of you who have been so supportive of me during this process.

I am new to the board, but congratulations! I am in the medical field also ( I am assuming you are a nurse based on your user name) and just got approved. I applied in January and was approved in March. I was shocked. What a relief!
