I've been waking up short if breath and full of panic. It's horrible. It's almost like akathesia but not. I feel restless tension throughout my whole body andbim scared.

Anyone feel this?

I've only experienced waking up and still dreaming, sometimes even nightmares. That only happens when I'm extremely manic though. Sorry this is happening to you.

i have many spurts of waking up in panic and its truly awful and im sorry you are going through it
for me it usually lends itself to an episode of some sort in either direction

Yep. I've had it occasionally off and on for 20 years, but this past year has been the worst ever.
I have Xanax for it. Until it kicks in, I usually tell my husband I think I'm dying, and then hug him and my pillow. Just sort of hold on for dear life...gasping for air.

I also have PTSD and I've read the brain tries to process trauma while we sleep, and sometimes we wake up in the middle of it. I don't know if that's true.

If you stumble onto a cure, please let me know. Take care.

I've woken up, seemingly mid-panic attack a few times.

It's very scary!

If I had to guess, I'd say the problem may be some sort of symptom of PTSD and complex trauma.

I'm looking for a therapist who specializes in PTSD right now.

Im currently waking up with severe anxiety and some days panic. It helps to have a morning routine but bloody hell, it is hard to do when you feel like that!

When in panic, I lay in bed, take a few deep breathes until I am composed enough to get up. I dont have to get dressed straight away - a dressing gown is fine to wear to start with - so the challenge of getting dressed isnt causing anxiety. I go outside, sit out for 10 - 15 minutes with a glass of water, do some breathing exercises then I will tend to the animals. Breakfast and meds are next, then comes getting dressed but slowly slowly. My morning routine takes at least an hour. Usually this helps some.

I've been doing this lately it's horrifying, there are meditation techniques to help but I find that if you get a fast acting xanax script that gives you the best shot at calming yourself right away. The meds don't take away the source but they do a damn good job of treating the symptoms.

Sometimes I wake up with intense anxiety, but never full blown panic. Maybe you're having nightmares that you don't remember. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs!
