My major is in Kinesiology and I wondered how did you get your career started? Did you get your master's degree? Did you do internship at a local office? Provide me some insights, please? Thank you.

I believe physical therapy falls in the same catagory as other doctors and requires a doctorate in physical therapy, at least its that way in the states. I do not believe a masters program is offered in the states anymore. You could probably check with your local university for information on what the programs entail (if they offer it) and you will then at least know where you need to start to achieve your goal.

I'm an occupational therapist, is that close enough?

I have a master's degree. PT now requires an entry level PhD or DPT usually (doctorate of PT).

Different schools have different requirements about volunteer hours but yes, start volunteering in different places and keep a log where the person supervising you signs for every visit. My cousin is a PT; her primary volunteer position had her wash towels. I got to do a lot of hands on stuff with the OT I volunteered with for much of my time. It seems like 50 hours was a general requirement but that was nearly 20 years ago and things have changed. The school I wound up at didn't require volunteer hours although we all had some I think. And it was the highest ranked school I applied to.

The best thing to do is to find some schools you are interested in and get their requirements and then start working on meeting them. You'll probably want to apply to several schools so know what each requires. Some will require different pre-requisite classes as well. I needed a lot of biology (which your kinesio will cover; I had a kinesio major in my class and it was a nice head start for him in at least one class in the early phase as well as for his research project) and a lot of psychology. I wound up with degrees in both because I needed so many classes in both that it just made sense to complete the degrees. Plus I wasn't completely sure if I wanted to do OT or a specific type of psych.
