I took lithium for the second day 600mg at night I hallucinated all night i heard music has the spins like i was drunk and saw scary faces in the back of my boyfriends head while he lay beside me this was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me and i need to know if its gonna get worse as I increase my dosage I don't think I could handle another episode like that. Please tell me what you think should I allow my doctor to increase my dosage or should I try something different. The only thing is that I have tried so many different drugs and none seem to be working.

Welcome to Psych Central. Sorry for the delay in responding. New members that post in the New Members Introduction forum get quicker responses. If you want to be welcomed properly you can still post there.

Here are some of the posts about hallucinations on lithium.

welcome! When I first started Lithium I went manic for a few days then things settled down. Maybe the same will happen with the hallucinations. Have you had hallucinations before? Could it be a coincidence in timing? You should definitely contact your doctor asap to let them know what is happening. Hallucinations can be terrifying. I really hope yours pass soon. Keep posting if it helps. We are all here to support each other.

Hello and welcome to Psych Central cocobutter!!! It's nice to meet you. You have joined a community of warm and caring members who will want to offer you support and advice. Yours is welcome as well.

Please feel free to contact any community liaison or moderator by left clicking on their name in blue to the left of their post if you need help navigating the forums. It will take some time for your first five posts to appear as they are being evaluated and then you will be able to join chats.

I'm sorry for your struggles. I took lithium for a short time but never experienced any side effects like yours. It's definitely something you should bring up with your doctor should it continue. You'll find we have a safe and supportive community. I'm glad you've joined us.

I look forward to seeing you around!!!
