Has anyone tried counseling online? Any thoughts on it? I've been considering going back to therapy but haven't had the best experiences with it so I had the thought to try going about it a different way. I don't really want to have another bad experience.

To be honest I've never tried online counseling, hopefully those who have may be able to come forward and share their personal experience with it.
Hope this all works out for you. |

I've not tried online counseling, but I do think that for me a person to person experience is the preferred option. Sometimes there is a lot I say with my body language that my T picks up on without me actually having to say anything. It helps her because she can see my reactions to her questions/statements, and she can steer the conversation accordingly. And it helps me because I don't have to say everything. My body language has already said it long before I open my mouth.

I did it for a while. Honestly I liked that therapist better than my current one. It has a great advantage that you can text them at odd hours, but a huge disadvantage in waiting for them to text you back. And the biggest disadvantage is insurance wont cover it. Another advantage is the computer helps keep it more professional and keeps some of the embarrassment down. In the end for me it boiled down to insurance coverage.

I loved it. It gave me time to formulate answers, and to really mull them over.
I like being anonymous. I felt more free, less guarded, and could express myself better. I liked having the privacy to be able to break down when dark things (from the past) came up. I really love it and wish that my EAP had it

I'd love to do this, also for the anonymity and convenience.
How did you all find an online counsellor? I'm not in North America but what are the steps to take? Thanks BB

I originally came here to help others as I have been helped, but today I learned something, I was the one who got help here today. I have been going through a lot of pain dealing with my daughter and my relationship with her. I had only been seeing her part, today I see mine. I came upon the parent/child relationships and I see how controlling I have been. So live and continue growing. Madera ![]() |

Finding a therapist specializing in trauma is not an easy thing to do. That's what I need in my case. Online therapy just might make all this easier. Idk.

I think I'm just at the point where I need help but hate that I do and that I have to put forth effort. Online would be easier but I'm not sure it's for me.
