Well, are you? I enjoy socializing with others. It's fun and allows me to get to know someone. I enjoy spending time with people and I also don't mind being alone to recharge.

I am very social and outgoing when I'm not depressed. Most people think of me as a very upbeat and bubbly person. I make friends with everyone. People tease me about how friendly I am.
When I'm depressed I become very antisocial and I begin to hate everyone. When I feel like this, socializing takes a huge toll on me and I have to isolate. But I would say that the "true me" is very social and loves people. |

When I'm stable, I like people and enjoy socializing.
I spend most of my time depressed, and socially anxious. So that confuses things a bit. |

I used to be very social but the depression has taken that away. I just not chatty when I'm depressed which is most of the time these days. But on good days I still enjoy getting out and being social.

Mostly I like to socialize with the right folks, but not just anyone. I tend to pull away when agitated or manic especially from certain people

I don't like people in general so I rarely socialize. I talk to one really nice lady at the drug store about once a month. Other than that it's just my wife who is not your "average" person.
Average people are crude, rude, mean, obnoxious, sarcastic, and really upset me. |

Nope. If I won the lottery, I would spend the rest of my life in a small house, with pets, gaming online and ordering delivery for dinner, probably switch back and forth between pizza and Chinese. I can handle and even enjoy making online friends and online conversation, but in person I find people to be extremely draining. I've always been this way, though. I think it has more to do with trauma issues than with bipolar disorder. I remember when I was a kid, I would spend family gatherings in the coat room or a closet or wherever I could hide, would just grab some food and bolt. My brother is the only person on earth that I can spend time with, without it draining and stressing me out.

Not particularly unless I'm having a really good day. Surprisingly I am when I'm at work, but I work from home most of the week. Lately not so much because it's so much effort.

I am the same. I enjoy and like people, but being with people in person can easily become exhausting to me. Many people at once is overwhelming a lot of the time. When I'm energetic enough I can be around a few people and enjoy myself for a certain length of time, but if I'm not doing well, paranoia, etc. I can't handle being around anyone, even strangers smiling and saying hello at the grocery store, etc.

I'm an introvert at heart. I don't mind socializing and getting together but I'm really uncomfortable if I don't know the people. I love to chat and socialize with people I'm comfortable with. But the other side of me likes to be by myself. I tend to isolate myself. Being alone gives me the space I need to recharge. I don't have any pressure to talk or act like I'm okay. But I'm looking forward to going back to college and hopefully meeting some new people. I wouldn't mind having more friends to hang out with.

I used to be a people person but nursing cured me of that. Now probably 80% of my friends are online, and the others I keep up with on Facebook. I just don't enjoy people like I used to, but I also don't really feel I'm lacking for friendship. Weird, I know.

Used to be. If you just mean shooting the breeze with people at the airport while waiting to get where you're going...then I'm fine. If you mean letting people get close to me beyond what's my favorite color, then no. I have a a huge wall that people don't get to cross.
