So I had my psychiatrist appointment and after about 30 seconds before I had said anything about what's been going on she said "you're really high!"
She then went on to say that I really shouldn't be working. But I feel amazing and the idea of not working because I feel too good just seems bizarre. I asked a friend at work today and was shocked that she agreed and told me that people are talking. Feeling confused as I really don't think I'm that high, and I'm not doing anything particularly crazy!!

Did you ask your friend and doctor to list the specific behaviors they found concerning?

The concern was around risk to reputation from everyone knowing. The behaviour is around my energy levels and elevated mood, nothing really specific was mentioned.

Hopefully your pdoc just wants to catch it before it spirals into something dysfunctional or unpleasant. As far as coworkers, well I get the impression that most people are crabby about having to work their jobs, since so much of the economy is rat race and not personal passion, so they might just find your positive high energy to be weird. Oh well about that, I would say.

Don't worry about the people talking thing. People are ALWAYS talking about someone. It's ridiculous at my job.

That being said, I hope everything works out for you. Is your mood affecting your work performance? Why does your pdoc want you to stop?
