I recently got switched from 120 mg Latuda to 900 mg lithium, and my pdoc said it should have a slight effect in 5 days. It has been 7 days now, and I do not feel any effect whatsoever.

My question is, how long does it take for lithium to start working, and do you think my dose might be too low?

Lithium depends on blood level, not dose. So it depends on what your level is. Have you had a level scheduled? Usually they can do one about 4 days into starting or changing the level. But until they do a level you won't know if you are on enough or too much or too little. I've had a level of 1.2 on 400 mg or on 1200 mg depending. 900 is a moderate dose but it really depends on how you metabolize it.

I agree with having your level tested. When I started Lithium I didn't see the full effect for at least a month although I did see partial improvement after a few weeks. It was a slow burner for me. I wish you all the best with Lithium. It has been a life saver for me.
