My therapist and I decided that IOP would be a good idea and found one that is relatively close and is 3 hours in the evenings, 3 days per week, which would let me continue to sleep off my med changes/depressive sleep and still participate. But I can't afford to add medical expenses to my bills after just adding my deductible for psych.

But it looks like IOP is covered under Part B and therefore I'd have to pay 20%. Is this correct? I thought IOP was a Part A thing because it was equivalent to IP care but I have no idea where I got that idea.

Does anyone know for sure? I want to do this but do not want to be in further debt; that will only add stress I do not need right now.

Thanks

I'm sorry. I don't have a clue. My ex has Medicare but no MH issues...

I just wanted to say that I hope you get to do this and that it helps a lot! Hugs!

I don't know either, but I hope it's covered for you.

Plans vary according to location and according to which health care you're hooked up with. (For example, I have Dignity Health through Medicare and for me, IOP would be covered). Good luck, I hope yours is covered Rainbow (it probably will be).

I found it on the medicare page. It's under Part B, leaving me at 20% co-pay for everything which I can't afford. So it's just going to be continued twice a week therapy and watching and waiting and hopefully getting my Seroquel increased tonight or tomorrow.

I did at least find out that if I have to go back IP within 60 days I don't have to pay another deductible. So that's good. Nice to know it is cheaper to be in the hospital than to get help staying out....
