I was just prescribed this for anti-anxiety while tapering klonopin. Never heard of it or seen it in anyone's signature... You?

It's generic for Neurontin. I take it too. It doesn't help me with anxiety but it helps with the neuropathy I developed when they ripped me off Klonopin without a taper. Good luck. I hope it goes well for you.

I took it many years ago as a mood stabilizer when I was a teen. I don't know if it really worked. Seems it's fallen out of favor as a mood stabilizer anymore. I don't know if it will help for anxiety. Worth a shot, right? Good luck!

I take 400 mg as a slight mood stabilizer. It doesn't do much but it does something. I can't tolerate higher doses without getting loopy but haven't been able to come off this low dose. It may help with anxiety more than anything. I don't really know.

It works via the neurotransmitter GABA. So do benzos like Klonopin. GABA is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in our bodies. It slows down nervous system activity.

I take Gabapentin, 900mg per day. At first it made me lethargic, but I got used to it. I think it helps. Not radically, but worth it. Another upside is its not horribly expensive and low on side effects (for me).

I hope it helps you!

Meds: only Gabapentin ATM

I tried it with absolutely no discernable effect. But how a drug works on one person means nothing to you.

Gabapentin is used off label for treating anxiety in bipolar patients (not approved by the FDA for this purpose). I take 100mg three times a day and I can feel the difference when I don't take it. Any side effects I had subsided after three weeks and it works well for me.

I was on it for diabetic nerve pain a couple years ago. Only took it for a few months because I didn't have insurance at the time and it was really costly. It worked great for nerve pain. My NP tried adding it on as a mood stabilizer in July. For some reason, this time it gave me an incredible never satisfied appetite. So I decided it wasn't worth it.

I have tried it in the past for neuropathic pain ---- had great and serious side effects....

Now, I am back on a very low dose at night trying to build up a tolerance for it so that I can take if for pain since I can't afford the med I was on for pain....

Did not know it had the anti-anxiety/mood-stabilizing effects. Very interesting.

I already posted but felt I should be more specific.

I take 200 in the am and 600 at bedtime for anxiety. I still have *some* issues but I think it really helps with my anxiety!
