Watching a show on cocaine. The way they describe it, sounds like mania.

well that would make sense, mania can be pretty addictive.

In nursing school I remember being told that you need to test everyone who appears to be manic for cocaine/crack... because being high on cocaine is so close to mania that you really wouldn't be able to tell the two apart just by observation. Of course as you get to know a patient you know their particular patterns and don't need to try and wrestle them down for a sample..... "Joe, you went off your meds again didn't you"
