So today I went to this nurse practitioner and she recommends that I go to this day program 5 days a week to go through therapy and get new medicine. they'll tweak my medicine and make sure I'm okay when they see me everyday. She wrote me a note for a leave from work for a month but I'm scared I'll lose my job. I was thinking to wait 2 weeks for my new psychiatrist and then wait another 3 weeks or so. Idk what I should do. Get help right away and possibly lose my job or wait and keep my job. ****.

Can you do FMLA? How long have you been there?

Technically you're going out on a medical disability or leave and technically it would be illegal to fire you. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, just that they can't actually do that.

I guess it really depends on how safe you feel. Do you think you can wait a whole two weeks for a pdoc? Then three weeks after that? If you feel pretty bad (and you must for your t to suggest this) I would do the day program. They can help you a lot faster than outpatient pdoc can. You'll see the doc once a week at least. And you'll be in a safe place where you can express your feelings. It's a great option.

I had to do that and I ended up using FMLA. I don't think you can lose your job for receiving treatment. Just go through HR and you should be ok. I ended up taking a month off for IOP using leave and FMLA.

Look at it this way, your health is more important than a job. If you're not healthy, then how good will you be at your job?

I was in a PHP program before I moved down here and I really liked it. However I didn't have the job concerns as I was already on disability. I attended for a really long time but it was a very good program to go to and you could always talk to someone if you needed to.
