There is a label stuck to the bottle of my Lamictal that says you should wear a medical id when taking this medication. I was wondering if any of you wear one.
Thanks for this!

That may be why it says that. It just says if you are taking it you should wear one. I was thinking maybe if you were in an accident and taken to the hospital it can show a false positive on a drug screen also maybe just so they don't give you anything contraindicated. I have a penicillin allergy so I thought about getting one anyway but was just curious if anyone has it specifically for their meds.
Thanks for this!

I don't think I've every seen that on mine, not that I have really paid attention.

I have a flash drive based one so that in an emergency they pop it into a computer and everything comes up. I wear it because I'm on an MAOI which interacts with a lot of drugs and I have a lot of drug allergies. It's really convenient; I used it once when I went into the ER with a serious stomach bug and a head to toe rash and since they immediately started IV benadryl I was confused and couldn't remember my meds so it was nice they could pop it in and get it off that. I need to update it in fact; I'm glad you reminded me. I also have a plastic tag on my keychain that says to see my necklace in case someone wouldn't identify it as a medic alert (it has a symbol on it but just in case).

No, I don't wear one, No, I have never received this with my medication, Yes, I would think maybe because it is an anti-seizure med. I do keep a card in my wallet with all my medications and doses listed though, and I used to wear a bracelet with my allergy to Penicillin listed, but I don't wear it anymore, although I guess I should.

I do vaguely remember maybe (my memory is totally shot) reading about a bracelet in one of the information sheets you get with drugs, but when I asked my pdoc about it she said not to worry about it. If it worry's you just ask the doctor that prescribed it.

Now that I have thought about it, yes when I started Lamictal (a long time ago) on the first bottle I got it did have a sticker on it talking about the bracelet. I asked my pdoc about it and she said not to worry about it. I asked the pharmacist about it and he did not think I needed one either. I would ask your pdoc about it but I don't think its something you have to worry about.

I have lupus a form of MS fibro seizures and the list goes on. I should have a medical alert bracelet but don't.

I went into the ER and could not breath I was lucky that I had a list of my meds with me but you never know what could happen. A flash drive is an awesome idea. I don't know if it will always work but it's better then nothing.

I think anyone on strong meds for something or has seizures etc should happen some type of jewelry just to be safe

I would get a medical alert or

e aThe flash drive is a medic alert device if I wasn't clear on that. I got mine from Amazon for about $25 several years ago. I've had 3 or 4 of them over several years and while I've gotten bad about wearing it I know that I really need to (I'm dangerously allergic to tetanus shots and because of my MAOI if I have to get one and then be treated for my allergy they have to be ready for emergency care when the allergy treatment interacts with my MAOI and makes my blood pressure skyrocket). I have asthma and it's also easier than choking out information when I'm having a bad attack. I can update whenever needed in just a few minutes and it has all my drs' information as well as my medical history, meds, and in theory I can add test results and xrays and things but I've never tried that.

I do wear a medic-alert bracelet, but have never seen it suggested on any of my meds.
I have a few life threatening allergies, so I wear the bracelet

I asked my pdoc about it today and he said "do what feels right to you" but it isn't a drug that is going to cause you to pass out in public or anything. I do have a penicillin allergy so I should probably wear one for that and I'm going to start carrying a medication list in my wallet just in case I ever need it.
