After replying couple of threads today, i started thinking, wow, i must be really lucky. My Pdoc:
- Remembers me - Listens to what i really have to say - Reads between the lines - Ignores all my stupid ideas without judging - Treats me like a piece of meat making me feel like i'm in good hands - Is younger than me - Can use 5 minutes of our 45 to keep a weird lecture, for example, how depression is partly an inflammation in brains and how ibuprofen effects on it. - chats about totally irrelevant issues - Tells me i'm not normal but it's normal - Tells me he has 2 bipolar colleaques - Lets me suggest medication changes and takes it seriously - Changed medication by my suggestion - Explains me exactly why he prescribed me certain medication and why he's changing it - Works in high end private sector but occasionally consults in free public healthcare where i am. Time to praise your Pdoc!

I really like my psychiatrist, although our appointments are usually only 10-15 min every 3 months, I feel she listens to me, she can see when I am trying to feed her a line of bull. She's very careful not to rock the boat as far as medications go so I don't usually suggest meds. Overall I am please with my doctor.

Mine is very respectful to what I say about meds. Also, she believed me the last time that I was manic. I told her I was having SI .She believed I wouldn't do it, and I didn't.

I am so happy for you that you have a good pdoc! That's so important. I was curious, is your pdoc also doing therapy with you for those 45 minutes or is that just the med checks? I get 15 minutes every 2-3 months with my pdoc and twice monthly for an hour each time with my therapist. I do LOVE my therapist, though! She is very attentive, supportive and helps educate me about my MIs as well as my psychological issues. She even remembers dates of special significance to me, both good & bad that we've talked about in the past. She is tough on me when I need it, though, don't get me wrong. But, she does it in a nurturing way and let's me find my own insights about issues we talk about. She's my therapist but more like a friend to me. ![]() |

Mine is great although I'm feeling kind of ignored right now. (I need meds adjusted, she agreed to do it so I can stay OP, then she disappeared and didn't respond to my phone call asking her to check the email. But I've been so needy for 9 months that I can hardly blame her for not considering every contact from me urgent. I just want some treatment before she is gone for part of next week. But there's also a wait out the numerous changes I've been through since I went to the hospital and she may be trying to encourage that. Dunno).
But I see her for an hour or longer every month and she listens, she cares, she accommodates my views on meds, she tries to find things that will work for me even after I've been on so many things and she calms my fears about running out of meds, over and over. She's willing to talk to my therapist when needed and emails with me as needed between sessions (except for right now and for all I know she wasn't in the office today and didn't get my message). Once when I was in the hospital for Christmas she was the on-call dr. I thought she was going to be so mad at me because I had lied about how suicidal I was and instead she just sat on my bed and held me while I cried. She always does extra; I've had calls on Christmas Eve (she's Jewish but it's still a busy time) to check on me and calls returned late at night. She had to slow down a bit when she had breast cancer a few years ago but even throughout her treatments she was always there and always ready to help. I am so glad I have her.

Psychiatrists are pathological, narcissists, with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
So I have the best kind...NONE. |

I loved my old one because he was funny, took my problems seriously and tried his best to help.
My new - actual - Pdoc is nice, but I rarely see him because they prefer to send people to the psychiatrist in training..... Now this guy drives me up a wall. He is not someone you can easily have a conversation with and isn't open to ideas and my strange theories. He goes by the book and doesn't understand what I'm going through at all. He won't prescribe my stomach medicine anymore because he thinks it's a gp task (really only reason) and says my benzos (which I need everyday) are not needed and I can pay for them myself. I leave every appointment worse off than I was. I am going to see if I can get a new one after I vent to my psychiatric nurse in a few weeks. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

I have an awesome pdoc. He works with me rather than talking at me. He sees me as an equal voice in my medical decisions. Great guy.

Anyways, I haven't seen the pdoc in about 6 months. I see the p.a. every month for about 10-15 min. She's very nice and respectful and seems genuine. Good ones are definitely hard to find. She works with me. 3 months ago she let me come off trilafon, which was causing unwanted side-effects. I want to come off saphris, but she won't let me right now. Understandable, since my last episode was severe and only a year ago, maybe in a couple months of more stability she will wean me off. |

A good pdoc is a hard one to find you you lucky you!
![]() My first pdoc blew my mind by over prescribing Wellbutrin, then he retired. I was then given a NP which was the best, she moved away. I found another pdoc and asked him has he done any Dissociative Identity Disorder work, he said no but looked at me and said I didn't have it and laughed after first meeting him for 10 minutes....we hated him and left. This one now looks at me like I'm crazy and just wants to push pills. :/ Since I'm stabile, I get to go in every 3 months. I actually need a therapist to talk to. |

I have an amazing pdoc who I think knows me better than I do sometimes. He knows all my little quirks and has studied me thoroughly so he can tell when I'm BSing him. He respects me as a nurse and works with me on decisions as to treatment. He's also smart, funny, and wise...I call him Dr. Awesomesauce in my blog.

I love my pdoc. I love my Therapist. And they just happen to be married and work together at a small private practice. Most of the time that's a good thing. The Therapist even saw me for free for a while when I did not have insurance or much money, cant beat that!

Besides the appointments being pretty short, I like mine. It's not always easy to find a good one so when I find one that is sincere and competent, I'm keeping him/her. I moved last year and will continue to see my pdoc even though I now have to drive 45 miles to see him! Same with my therapist.

I have a really good Pdoc. I can call him or email him if I need a refill or a med change and he is very good about responding quickly. He is encouraging and he listens to what I have to say. He takes my opinion into consideration but also tells me what his treatment plan for me is and why.
My therapist is awesome. She gives me things to work on and explains why I feel/think the way I do. She lets me lead the session as to what I want to talk about. I guess I am very fortunate to have them. |
