After many years of trying every drug available the one which made the most difference is definitely Lamictal. I wish I had known about it 15 years ago.
Thanks for this!

If I am not on any of my meds, it's no fun. If I take one without the others, it's no fun at all.

Can I say that I like all of them because they keep me out of the hospital?

My benzos are an exception to these statements because they are "as needed" and allow me to sleep and keep my mind from winding me up and making me want to run away from things.

Since I could only pick one I picked the AP...but I use that for the extremes. once I'm stable I prefer to only remain on the mood stabilizer, in my case it's a anti convulsion med.

I don't think I could reach stability so quickly without the AP so it would be the most helpful. Unknown long term effects make me cautious about staying on it for more than a year or two at a time.

I chose the AP as well. That last uptick in the Zyprexa was what really did the trick...I've been stable for over eight months.

The Trileptal saved me for years. Since bipolar is what it is, the AD was added later and so on and so forth..

I like my new combo platter I've got. Risperdal 30 mg & Prozac 20 mg.

They may add Seroquel as well if the new combo doesn't work to completely stabilize me.
Thanks for this!

Lamictal all the way. I have no side effects and my moods have significantly stabilized. I also take a tiny dose of antidepressant, which I will increase in my winter depression months.
Thanks for this!

Benzo's PRN (to be specific, Oxazepam). It calms me down and if I take enough, my thoughts slow down so I can handle them easier.

Up until recently my cocktail of Trileptal, Topamax and Respiridone worked quite well for me for a while. Now the pdoc is tweeking dosages and/or adding an antidepressant to try to stabilize again. Blaahh! I hate this stuff!

I chose the extreme one (anti-psychotic) because it has kept me stable and out of the hospital for 8 years now. Yes I still have highs and lows, but I have come to accept them. Bipolar cannot be conquered but as I age with it I notice there is no magic cure all pill.

As long as my thoughts are coherent and I am functioning properly I can say that I have a good life.

lexapro and seroquel are doing great for stabilization and mood lifting, but... i voted for benzos... If it wasn't for the addiction I would rather take a benzo 3x daily.... My god they make me feel great, all my anxieties become trivial and depression is obliterated...
Thanks for this!

I chose AP because Geodon has been the most helpful medication for me in recent years.
