So after a bad hypomanic episode my doctor increased my lithium to 4 times a day at 450mg. After about 2 weeks I do feel a bit better. I haven't had any highs and my lows haven't been as bad.

All I would have to complain about is that I'm still depressed. It's not as bad, but it's still there.

I was wondering that since the lithium appears to be working, if he would change it because I'm still depressed? Or maybe he would change something else? What I'm on is in my signature.

Wondering because I know blood tests will be in my future if I stay on lithium and I hate needles.

Lithium does more to stabilize the highs than the lows (at least that's what the pdoc told me). He may increase your antidepressant.

That's my understanding as well. I take lamotragine, abilify, and latuda to fight off depression, although we are in the process of phasing out the abilify as the latuda is working so well.

Thanks for the answers. I'm glad I'll most likely be on lithium still. It's the only thing that seems to work.
