I went to the support group last night. I don't know what I think exactly. I promised to go to several before deciding.

One thing I did not think was good is that most people were new. I don't have the impression many people come more than once.

The structure was also kind of weird. There was very little interaction between group members, mostly each person talked a bit and then the leader talked a lot. People were nice; one of the people who has been going to the group for many years got up and got a pamphlet for me. But mostly it was someone talked and the leader tried to relate it to his own experiences which are not the same as me or most people in the group.

So I don't know. There are other groups that I can try to go to and I"m supposed to try this one 3 more times.

But I did it. I went to group (while mixed!! the hardest way to go!!). I tried. I survived.

Good for you! Give it at least the three more tries. It might improve....

Well done for going! I'm glad you're giving it more tries-- perhaps it was just an off night.

So proud of you! In my experience, going the first time is the hardest, and you did it at a rough time for yourself. Great job!

I agree that giving it a few more tries would be a good idea. Even if the group isn't a good fit for you, this will help you identify more things that you do or don't like about groups. Then if you're able to try another one, you'll feel more comfortable going and evaluating.
