Does anyone else feel like a walking pharmacy? I didn't feel too much like a walking pharmacy until I started gabapentin and my med list went to five (two are prns though). I don't know what to do. I plan on kicking out seroquel because I'm hoping once the gabapentin kicks in I'll be able to sleep at night because I won't be as anxious, and I'm also hoping I won't need my propranolol very often anymore because I won't have panic situations. So hopefully that would cut me down to three. I can't get rid of lamictal or geodon.

Sigh. So many meds!

I was off meds for years and now I'm at 4... I totally feel you. And the worst part for me is besides sleeping better I feel no different. Only been a month though so I'll give it time.

I feel like a walking pharmacy as well. I take 11 pills a day just to be "normal". I am only taking 3 types of meds thankfully but they are at high doses. I may be put back on one when I see my nurse practitioner which will bring me back up to four. I hate that I have to take so many pills. Hopefully I can start tapering down soon.

You've been on gapapentin for a while now right? That's one of those drugs that don't take weeks to work. If it isn't helping by now it probably won't at all

No. Just started it yesterday. It already works, or it worked yesterday anyway. I just thought it wouldn't work to full potential until it had built up in my system since she wants me to take it twice a day every day.

I was on eight before, now down to six. I've sort of accepted it. I need the meds, so that's the way it has to be. I just hate that they know my name at the pharmacy, so embarrassing.

My purse rattles when I walk. Lots of meds lol. In total I take up to 7 a day, one being 200 mg seroquel to sleep. The PRNs depend on my anxiety. And from my experience, gabapentin did absolutely nothing for me. I saw that you said you can't get rid of lamictal? Why is that? My pdoc just put me in it a few days ago and I'm wondering how it is.

I'm currently at 5 for total for both psych/. physical.

Maybe its paranoid but I worry that if something happens that cuts off my access( insurance, destruction of society, war, crash of Internet, stolen ID, you name it) to the meds/ drugs I'll have such terrible withdrawals, it makes me nervous to depend on meds.

I went to the pharmacy yesterday after getting out of the hospital and they are starting to know my name. It is pretty embarrassing that they were able to have my meds ready before I go to the counter. I guess that it is just another part about being bipolar..... You are not the only one

I don't go to the pharmacy. I have my husband pick up my prescriptions for me because I'm too embarassed. Lol!

rxqueen - I can't get rid of lamictal because it's my mood stabilizer/keeping me from depression med.

Between my blood pressure, diabetes and bipolar meds, I take 15 pills a day. Yes, I'm on a first-name basis with my pharmacist and everybody knows me because I'm in there almost every week. I'm used to it now. lol

And here I thought my chain drug store was just unique! Sometimes I think they've got my picture on file....remember this face....just give her the drugs! No they're very nice. My credit cards on file too so when it's my turn they have the meds ready to go and all I have to do is sign the receipt . That and they remember to give me three months worth at a time, except for the ambien that's just a month at a time.

Five? Is that all? *laugh* Between bipolar, diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid and other issues, I take over a dozen prescriptions now. Yeah, it's a drag. I use a pill box and sort the pills out every week in order to keep track of them. I hate that part of being a patient. It gets tedious, but the end result is worth it.

I take 19 pills a day min plus prn. I've got pills in two closets, under my bed and a whole stash in my purse. I'm only 30 and I try to hide it as much as i can but I know its what I need to keep me going. Sometimes I think about how many vitamins andnsupplements fitness gurus take and it helps.... My special vitamins.

One pharmacy I went to a few years ago had people that knew my name. I'm pretty sure the people at the pharmacy I go to now are starting to learn my name too. In fact, the generic Trileptal I take has to be from a specific manufacturer and ordered separately. They now put those aside and save them up for me so they have them ready since I get 90 day prescriptions. I saw my name handwritten on the bottle!

I went from 11 to 8 and my lowest ever was 6. Now I am on 9 but hopefully getting it down to 7.
They know me very well at the pharmacy too.

I get my pills prepackaged with the times and weekdays already on them and I also get free delivery so they have made it quite convenient for me.

Oh, I wanted to add that what makes it worse for me is that my pharmacy is actually located in my place of employment, so all the pharmacists really do know me. It sucks. With my insurance, I HAVE to go to the pharmacy at my place of employment or my prescriptions are more expensive.

It's horrible. They know my secret. What if they tell people! Every time I see one of them all I think is, THEY KNOW!

Lol. It sucks.

I went from 0 meds to 6 in two visits... All free paid for by a county program. I wonder if that has any influence in the # of prescriptions. I was just put on cogentin for being fidgety and jumpy, like I was before the meds, but they claim it's a side-effect of the APs I'm on <_<

I take 4 psych meds down from 7 a few months ago. Total prescriptions I take are 16. Sime are multiple pills a day. That number is down from 26 a few years ago. So I have managed to drop 10. I also keep a backup supply in case of disaster or if I forget to reorder in time. My refills are mailed to me. I too have to use a pillbox since its too many to count out every time and also to make sure I don't forget to take my meds. Like another person my meds too are free. So are my dr appointments labs etc.
